Reinforced metallic gaskets are mainly used on special type assemblies and can be produced in any shape. Multi-pass bar arrangements are produced by laser, while the gasket’s graphite coatings are cut to order. Reinforced metallic gaskets are often utilised when seating width and bolting are restricted.
Suitable for use in environments of up to pressure class 900, reinforced metallic gaskets are widely used in the chemical and petrochemical environment where a high temperature and corrosion resistant joint is required. They are also found in heat exchanger applications, primarily replacing the CNAF, double jacketed and soft iron gaskets. The reinforced metallic gasket is also useful where flange width is narrow, making it ideal for floating head arrangements in exchangers.
